I think my favorite story from Songs of a Dead Dreamer so far has been the hypnotist who enamors his audience to a glmaoured corpse—theyre all desperste to dance with her abd buy her drinks—before escaping out the back way and revealing her true nature at the sound of a bell. With most of the evil men I'm like "eh ok you're a misogynist," but I can appreciate this guy's freak proclivities.

#idk i think im having trouble with ligotti's pacing generally #for instance i liked the one about the alcoholic children's book author but the actual horrors were so abrupt #i think hes got all these really masterful ideas but most of his endings just arent sayisfying to me #ive got several more volumes of his to get thru though so who knows #it's also very much not a structure unique to him it's just not my fav #txt #currently reading
